These hot chocolate fudge cups are for the real chocolate lovers, the ones who love chocolate with their chocolate. They're rich, decadent, and perfectly fudgy, but surprisingly simple to make with just five ingredients and no baking required.

The base is a super simple 3-ingredient no bake brownie batter where you simply blend the ingredients together in a food processor and press the mixture into a silicone cup mould. It forms a soft, brownie-like crust that pairs perfectly with the creamy fudge filling. If you prefer, you can substitute the maple syrup with dates instead. Dates work beautifully in this recipe and add natural sweetness and a slightly caramel-like flavour. The exact number of dates you'll need can vary depending on their size and stickiness, so start with a few and adjust as needed until the mixture holds together.

The brownie base is then filled with the chocolate fudge layer, which is essentially a silky smooth ganache made with just two better-for-you ingredients. The coconut milk is what gives these hot chocolate fudge cups their creamy, thick texture while also balancing the richness of the chocolate with a subtle hint of coconut flavour.

Cacao powder is used here not only for its deep chocolate taste but also for its natural benefits. Cacao is rich in polyphenols and antioxidants and is often associated with supporting blood vessel health, cognitive function, and even boosting mood. If cacao powder isn't available, cocoa powder works just as well and will still give you that rich chocolate flavour.

I made six medium-sized hot chocolate fudge cups, but you can absolutely make them smaller if you want them to feel a little lighter or more bite-sized. They're also such a fun festive dessert, especially around the holidays. You can top them with crushed candy canes, or even insert half a candy cane into the side to create adorable little mug handles.

I topped mine with mini vanilla bean marshmallows, which I made by turning my vanilla bean marshmallow fluff into marshmallows and slicing them into tiny cubes. They added the perfect fluffy texture and helped balance the double chocolate richness.

  • Step 1: To a bowl add the chocolate and coconut milk. Heat in the microwave or using a double boiler — only heat until the milk is warm, then continue to stir until the chocolate fully melts. Set aside.

  • Step 2: To a food processor add the almond flour, cacao powder and maple syrup and blend until combined.
  • Step 3: Transfer a few teaspoons of the batter to your silicone cup mould and press down firmly, making a well in the centre.
  • Step 4: Add a few tablespoons of the chocolate filling to each cup.

  • Step 5: Place in the freezer for 20–30 minutes or until the filling is set.
